Red Lip Challenge Week #2

Hello!

I’d like to start by thanking everyone who has stopped by and given Week One’s Post a read. I really appreciate it. I’d love to know what you think so far and if you have any suggestions on how to make these posts even better. Please leave a comment or shoot me an email and let me know. If you are enjoying this first series, please consider joining my mailing list by subscribing below.

Now that that’s all covered, its on to Week Two! I’ve really enjoyed diving into my collection of red lipsticks through this process. This week I was able to rediscover a lipstick that has been overlooked and pushed to the back of my makeup draw for far too long. I’m happy that already, I’m finding hidden gems within my own collection. Here’s to weeding out the duds and rediscovering the Stars.

Shade: Crimson Chrome

Rating: Love

Type: gloss/liquid lip

Chrome is such an accurate description of this lipstick. The shine on this one is mesmerizing and the pigmentation is incredible. This is definitely a color to wear if you are looking to stand out. It gets bonus points for the compliments I got while wearing it because, who doesn’t love getting compliments? The photo’s barely do this lipstick justice though. The formula is pretty sticky but it wears surprisingly well all things considered. It will definitely transfer onto a glass, a cheek, or whatever you may be press them against.

Pat McGrath: LuxeTrance Lipstick

Shade: Strange

Type: Cream Lipstick

This is a very light feeling lipstick formula. I forgot I had such a rich shade of lipstick on because of how comfortable it was to wear. That can be a little dangerous. Be careful you don’t accidentally wipe your mouth and smear it across your face… that definitely did not happen to me. It applies with a nice amount of shine which will wear down into a more natural finish. What I really like about this one, is how pigmented it is. One swipe and you are good to go. It’s pretty impressive in that regard.

Type: Cream Lipstick

I was surprised to see how much shine this lipstick had. I wasn’t expecting it. It was a good surprise though. It looks and feels so smooth and the color is so vibrant. I really enjoyed wearing this lipstick and will continue to enjoy this one. I can’t believe this lipstick has been sitting at the back of my collection… forgotten… abandoned. I apologize Lipstick, I won’t forget about you again.

Marc Jacobs: Le Marc Lip Creme Lipstick

Shade: So Rouge

Rating: Neutral

Type: Cream Lipstick

This shade is a blue red which is always my favorite color family of red. Other than that, there isnt much about this one that’s overly impressive. It’s creamy and comfortable to wear which is always important but, it is also an exclusive shade to Sephora. I believe it came as a birthday gift from being in their Rouge rewards program. Because it is an exclusive shade, that I don’t believe you can even purchase, I can’t put it up into my favorites for this challenge.

I’ve reviewed a different shade in this same formula last week. If you would like to read that review, where I talk more in depth about this specific formula, please click the link HERE. This specific shade is an orange red. I’d say it is almost more orange than it is red but, after much deliberation, I decided to include it as a red. I also think that for whatever reason, it looks more red in photos than it does in person. I think this will be a perfect shade to wear now that it is springtime. It could definitely work as a summer shade as well.

Nars: Velvet Matte Lip Pencil

Shade: Cruella

Rating: Neutral

Type: Matte

This shade was a far more muted shade of red than many of the others I've worn so far. It’s solidly matte and pretty comfortable considering the formula and staying power. The color wears for a good amount of time and fades pretty evenly. Matte’s always seem to last longer than other formulas though. Overall thoughts: its okay.
